# duckduckgo-mcp
|
|
|
|
MCP server that exposes DuckDuckGo search to Javis via three tools:
|
|
|
|
- **`ddg_search`** — general web search (titles, URLs, snippets)
|
|
- **`ddg_news`** — recent news articles
|
|
- **`ddg_answers`** — quick lookups; DuckDuckGo removed its instant-answer API, so
|
|
this returns the top 3 web results
|
|
|
|
Searches run in a worker thread (the server stays responsive), and failures such
|
|
as DuckDuckGo rate limits are returned as MCP tool errors (`isError: true`), so
|
|
clients don't mistake or cache them as results. All tools are annotated
|
|
`readOnlyHint` / `openWorldHint`.
|
|
|
|
## Setup
|
|
|
|

The batch script creates a `.venv`, installs dependencies, and launches the server over stdio.
|
|
|
|
